Sam Asghari has conveyed his heartfelt wishes for his ex-wife, Britney Spears, following her recent comments about their brief marriage. While attending the Blue Carpet Countdown for the First National PrEP Day on October 9, 2023, Asghari remarked on Spears’ mention of their relationship, calling it a “great compliment.”
Asghari, 31, expressed his views during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. He described how distractions can lead to positive outcomes, referencing Spears’ remarks about the upcoming MISTR Campaign. “Distraction is always a great compliment. And that’s what this next campaign is — a huge, big distraction,” he noted. He further stated, “Sometimes, you know, we can turn distractions into great things. So that’s a good thing for me.”
Marriage and Recent Developments
The couple, who began dating in 2016 after meeting on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video, were married from June 9, 2022, until their separation on July 20, 2023. Their marriage was recently finalized in May 2024. In an Instagram post from August, Spears shared her feelings regarding their marriage, suggesting it had become a “fake distraction” as she dealt with her relationship with her sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston.
Spears has faced challenges in her relationship with her sons, having been estranged from them for three years. In her August post, she reflected on those difficult times, stating, “The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those three years. I was cut off from calling or texting … my secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears.”
Asghari, in his comments to Us Weekly, conveyed his desire for Spears to find happiness, saying, “I just hope the happiest for her.” He emphasized the importance of celebrating their past together, acknowledging it as a significant part of his life.

He highlighted the importance of using his platform to support various causes, which is why he is collaborating with MISTR for an upcoming campaign. “I’m responsible to do so — to give back to the community that I owe so much to,” he stated. Asghari hinted at a new campaign with MISTR, promising it to be “very bold, very sexy and very big.”
Currently, Asghari is in a relationship with Brooke Irvine, a real estate agent based in Los Angeles. He confirmed their relationship on Instagram in January, though they had been seen together since November 2022. He described their partnership as “amazing,” emphasizing that their connection transcends the entertainment industry. “It’s about what really is the most important thing, and that’s being present, being in the moment and supporting others that are doing this same thing,” he shared.
