Owlcat Games has released a significant update for its role-playing game, Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, aimed at enhancing the recently launched expansion, Lex Imperialis. This latest patch, version 1.4.1, introduces several key features and adjustments that are expected to improve the overall player experience.
One of the most notable changes in this update is the earlier introduction of the new party character, Solomorne Anthar. Players can now begin his recruitment mission at the start of Act II, a shift from previous gameplay that allows for a more integrated experience. Those who have already progressed beyond this point will have the opportunity to pursue Anthar and his companion, the Cyber Mastiff, after completing a few warp jumps.
New Features and Enhancements
The update does not stop with the inclusion of Anthar. Players will also gain access to a new escort ship, The Heartless, which can be added to their fleet starting in Act II. While this addition alters the narrative trajectory slightly, Owlcat has ensured that the overall story remains coherent through various adjustments.
In addition to new characters and ships, the update expands Anthar’s dialogue options, allowing him to express his opinions during critical decision-making moments regarding the fate of colonies that the player’s Rogue Trader invests in. Improvements have also been made to dialogues concerning characters and locations introduced in the expansion, enhancing the narrative depth of the game.
Numerous mechanical tweaks have been implemented across Rogue Trader as well. Among these, the Cyber Mastiff’s ‘Terror Battle’ mode now has a stacking capability of up to 100 times, while its regeneration function has been enhanced to include several additional effects, such as warp burning. Furthermore, various in-game items, including the Vindicator Flamer, have been adjusted to expand their area of effect, allowing for broader damage distribution.
Quality of Release and Future Expectations
The update also addresses numerous user interface and localization issues, alongside minor adjustments to cooperative gameplay. For instance, players in cooperative mode are now prevented from interfering with one another’s familiars, a change that reflects the game’s overarching themes of respect and order.
