Naomi and Cardi B Exchange Barbs Ahead of WWE SummerSlam Showdown

WWE women’s champion Naomi is engaged in a heated exchange with rapper Cardi B on social media as anticipation builds for SummerSlam, scheduled for August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The rivalry intensified recently with Naomi’s pointed remarks, declaring, “She better hope she don’t run into me at MetLife,” in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.
The back-and-forth began when Naomi invited her followers to post complimentary messages about her on X on July 22. Cardi B took the opportunity to respond with a comment aimed at Naomi’s family, stating, “You have amazing in-laws … you should thank them.” This reference was to Naomi’s husband, Jimmy Uso, and his well-known parents, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi and Talisua Fuavai-Fatu.
Naomi’s response was swift and fierce: “This means war ⚠️🤬.” She continued to escalate the situation by jokingly threatening to “shave all of that pretty hair off and make me a wig,” in reaction to Cardi showcasing her natural hair. Naomi later humorously mentioned she is “working on a way right now to keep her out of the building” during the event.
Despite the tension, Naomi expressed appreciation for Cardi B’s involvement in WWE, recognizing the importance of such mainstream crossover events. “I love the mainstream crossovers,” she stated. “I love when we can bring in different, amazing artists and performers into our world and share our fan bases. We all just come together in this experience of wrestling, which I think is what makes wrestling so cool. Wrestling touches everyone around the world.”
In addition to Cardi B’s hosting duties at SummerSlam, country music artist Jelly Roll will also participate, teaming up with Randy Orton to face Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre on August 2. Naomi will defend her WWE women’s world championship on August 3 in a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
Naomi’s championship victory came after winning the women’s Money In the Bank ladder match in June. She secured her title at WWE Evolution earlier this month, reflecting on the experience: “I’m still wrapping my head around it. Still coming down from the excitement of it, the shock of it, the overwhelming, much appreciated reaction and response from the fans. The good and the bad. You can’t have the good without the bad.”
She further emphasized the connection with fans, stating, “They’re making that very vocal, which means I’m doing something right.”
WWE’s two-night SummerSlam event will air live on Peacock at 19:00 ET on both days, promising an exciting lineup of matches and special appearances.
