Meghan Markle Criticized for ‘Man Boy’ Comment About Prince Harry
Meghan Markle has faced criticism for remarks she made about her husband, Prince Harry, during a recent interview. The Duchess of Sussex spoke candidly in her conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, where she described her relationship with Harry. Critics, including royal biographer Angela Levin, found her comments to be patronizing and offensive.
In the interview, which took place earlier this week, Markle, 44, expressed how Harry, 41, has positively impacted her life. She stated, “He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t.” Markle emphasized their bond, saying, “No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back.”
Markle also highlighted Harry’s “childlike wonder and playfulness,” suggesting that these qualities have brought out a creative side in her. She mentioned, “I was so drawn to that, and he brought that out in me. That’s translated into every part of our life. Even in business, I want us to play and have fun and explore and be creative.”
Levin, appearing on Talk TV with host Mark Dolan, did not hold back in her critique. She stated, “Not one word about her loving him. I can’t imagine any man whose wife said that to him, that he has childlike wonder, and that’s why she’s much better than him.” Levin characterized Markle’s comments as “patronizing” and “cruel,” suggesting that such statements could undermine the foundation of their marriage.
Dolan echoed Levin’s sentiments, asserting that Markle’s remarks imply Harry is more of an accessory in their relationship. He noted, “She is saying the true bit out loud, which is that he’s her accessory. He’s the help. He’s the spare in his own marriage.”
Levin continued to express her disapproval, stating, “It’s not even that he’s a man boy. He’s just a boy. You know, I mean, I think it is so rude.” She criticized Markle for what she sees as a lack of awareness in her public statements. Levin added, “She has to feel that she’s absolutely super wonderful, super clever, but you’re not super clever when you do something like that. It’s cruel and nasty.”
Dolan concurred, stating that Markle’s description of Harry lacks an emotional connection, suggesting instead that it sounds more like an instruction. He remarked, “She didn’t mention, as you said, that she loves Harry, but that he knows that he’s got to look out for her and that he will, which doesn’t sound like an expression of love.”
As the discussion continues, the public reaction remains mixed, with some supporting Markle’s candidness and others aligning with Levin’s criticisms. The episode highlights the ongoing scrutiny faced by the couple, particularly regarding their public persona and personal dynamics.
