ITV has secured the rights to the upcoming comedy drama series Sunny Nights, featuring acclaimed actors Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden. The show revolves around a brother-sister duo who launch a spray tan business in Sydney, only to find themselves ensnared in the city’s dangerous criminal landscape. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for ITV, particularly for Darren Nartey, who made this deal as his inaugural major acquisition since being appointed Head of Acquisitions at the broadcaster.

Nartey expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Sunny Nights is exactly the type of unique content that our audiences will enjoy; we can’t wait to introduce our viewers to this darkly funny series when it launches on ITVX in 2026.”

The series, directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell, features Forte as Martin Marvin, a conservative American who teams up with his unpredictable sister, Vicki, portrayed by Carden. As they try to scale their fledgling company from a van-based start-up to a thriving enterprise, they encounter a ruthless gangster, forcing them to navigate the treacherous waters of crime while trying to stay alive.

Supporting Cast and Production Details

The supporting cast includes notable talents such as Rachel House from Thor: Ragnarok, Jessica De Gouw from The Couple Next Door, and Miritana Hughes from Preacher. Additional appearances include Ra Chapman from Wentworth and Megan Wilding from Mystery Road: Origin, along with a cameo by Patrick Brammall, also from Colin From Accounts.

“Together with the incredibly talented Trent O’Donnell, the outstanding showrunner and director of so many much-loved series like Colin from Accounts and Hacks, they’ve created a wonderfully funny dark crime series,”

stated Tom Misselbrook, SVP of Scripted Development at Cineflix Rights. The series is produced by Jungle Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment, and distribution is managed by Cineflix Rights.

With a significant acquisition now in place, Cineflix aims to further promote Sunny Nights at the upcoming MIPCOM market, where it will feature prominently in their slate of offerings. The deal with ITV was facilitated by Sandra Piha, SVP of Sales for the Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia divisions at Cineflix.

As anticipation builds for the series, it is clear that Sunny Nights is set to capture the attention of both British audiences and fans of dark comedy worldwide.
