Anna Yuan, a contestant from the popular reality series Love Is Blind, has spoken out against body-shaming comments she received after revealing her significant weight loss. The 28-year-old hairstylist shared her thoughts on social media, urging individuals to reconsider their behavior towards others regarding personal appearances.

On October 25, 2023, Anna addressed the issue in her Instagram Stories, stating, “Reminder that it’s weird as f*** to message a person you don’t know to comment about their weight or physical appearance.” She emphasized that she had lost approximately 40 pounds since filming the show, but urged her followers to focus on kindness instead of judgment.

Anna previously addressed body-shaming comments shortly after the premiere of Love Is Blind Season 9, which aired earlier in the fall. On October 2, she reminded her audience, “Hi friends, reminder that I am human. A human who has devoted her life into a craft to make other women feel beautiful.” She reflected on her struggles with weight throughout her life and expressed pride in her current health.

Throughout the season, Anna formed connections with fellow contestants Patrick Suzuki and Blake Anderson, yet ultimately decided to leave the experiment early. “I started seeing myself being pretty vulnerable, and it scared me a little bit because this is an intimate part of my brain,” she explained in an interview with Tudum. Anna noted that sharing such personal experiences with a wider audience heightened her anxiety.

Despite her decision to exit the show, Anna does not regret her choice. “I don’t think I regret it because I don’t think the connections were strong enough to have a successful marriage from there,” she said. She entered the show with no expectations of engagement and was prepared for the possibility of not forming a lasting bond.

While her departure from the show was difficult, Anna expressed concern for Patrick, whom she felt hurt by her abrupt exit. “The only thing I cared about was hurting Patrick with how I exited the show, and I deeply regretted that,” she stated. However, the two have since developed a friendship that she values.

Following Anna’s exit, Patrick pursued fellow contestant Kacie McIntosh, and they got engaged at the conclusion of the pod experiment. Unfortunately, Kacie ended the engagement shortly after meeting Patrick in person due to a lack of physical attraction.

The Love Is Blind Season 9 reunion is set to air on Netflix on October 29, 2023, at 21:00 ET, providing fans with an opportunity to catch up with the contestants and their journeys. Anna’s candid remarks about body image and personal experiences reflect a growing conversation about acceptance and kindness in the age of social media.
