Wiregrass Tech Honors Chancy Drugs with Classroom Renaming
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has officially renamed its Valdosta Campus pharmacy technology classroom in honor of Chancy Drugs. This recognition comes in light of the substantial support and contributions made by the Chancy family to the Pharmacy Technology Program over the past 25 years.
The Chancy family has been instrumental in the development of the program, providing essential hands-on clinical experiences for pharmacy technician students through their community pharmacies. According to a statement from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, their commitment has evolved significantly since the program’s inception.
Longstanding Partnership and Support
The Chancy family’s support extends beyond mere participation. A representative from Chancy Drugs actively serves on the program’s advisory committee, playing a crucial role in shaping the curriculum to meet industry standards. As their pharmacy network expanded to five locations across the 11-county service area of Wiregrass, they have consistently maintained their position as reliable clinical partners.
In recognition of the program’s evolving needs, Hugh and Bert Chancy have made further contributions through the Wiregrass South Foundation. Their recent donation has facilitated the acquisition of an essential pharmacy entry software system. This new system allows students to gain critical hands-on experience in a lab environment, enhancing their preparedness before they embark on clinical rotations.
Acknowledging Contributions
Wiregrass Tech President DeAnnia Clements expressed gratitude for the Chancy family’s enduring support, stating, “Their unwavering commitment has elevated our Pharmacy Technology Program and enriched the education of countless students. We are proud to honor their legacy through this classroom naming.”
The Wiregrass Foundation South is dedicated to advancing the mission of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College by funding innovative academic initiatives and ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students.
