Teens Discover Diverse Career Paths at Alternatives to College Night

The Teen Action and Support Center (TASC) is set to host its inaugural Alternatives to College Night on August 29, 2023, from 17:30 to 19:30 at The Hub located at 1194 W. Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. This event aims to provide local teenagers and their parents with an opportunity to explore various post-high school options beyond traditional college pathways.
The evening will feature representatives from a variety of trade, technical, and beauty schools, allowing attendees to engage in a “casual, drop-in” format. This setup is designed to encourage open discussions about career possibilities and vocational training, catering to a growing interest in alternative education routes.
Community partners supporting this initiative reflect a broad spectrum of local resources and opportunities. Organizations such as Pak Home Realty, Arkansas Workforce Connections, and the NWACC Certificate Program are among those contributing to the event. Additional participants include Brightwater, Career Academy of Hair Design, Arkansas College of Electricity, Academy of Professional Cosmetology, Frisco Tattoo, State Farm, NWTI, Trailside Yoga, and the Rogers Fire and EMT Department.
Founded in 2005, TASC has been dedicated to serving teenagers aged 13 to 19 in Benton and Washington Counties. The organization operates three locations, including The Hub and Restore Counseling Center in Rogers, as well as The Station in Springdale.
The Alternatives to College Night represents a significant step in addressing the diverse needs of today’s youth in the context of education and career planning. With an increasing number of students considering vocational training, this event showcases the various paths available to them.
By facilitating direct interactions with industry professionals, TASC aims to empower teens to make informed decisions about their futures. As the event draws near, community members are encouraged to participate and explore the wealth of opportunities that lie beyond the traditional college experience.
