RCC Board Appoints Maryann Albers as New Trustee

The board of trustees for the Regional Community College (RCC) has appointed Maryann Albers as a new trustee, filling the vacancy left by the late Tom Ritter. This decision was made during a board meeting held on October 10, 2023, where members recognized the need for strong leadership in continuing the college’s commitment to education and community service.
Maryann Albers brings a wealth of experience to the board, having served in various educational and administrative roles throughout her career. Her background includes a tenure as an educator and administrator at several institutions, where she focused on enhancing educational programs and community engagement initiatives. The RCC board expressed confidence in her ability to contribute positively to their mission.
The late Tom Ritter was a respected figure within the RCC community, known for his dedication to advancing educational opportunities and supporting local initiatives. His passing in September 2023 left a significant void, prompting the board to seek a trustee who could uphold his legacy.
RCC’s board chair, Sarah Thompson, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Maryann to our team. Her passion for education and her deep understanding of community needs align perfectly with our goals.” Albers’ appointment is expected to enhance the board’s capacity to navigate upcoming challenges and continue advancing the college’s strategic initiatives.
As RCC prepares for the future, Albers will be involved in critical discussions surrounding budget allocations, program development, and community outreach efforts. Her first official meeting as a trustee is scheduled for October 24, 2023, where she will join her fellow board members in planning for the upcoming academic year.
The RCC board remains committed to honoring Tom Ritter‘s contributions to the institution while embracing new perspectives and ideas that Maryann Albers will bring. As educational institutions face evolving challenges, the addition of experienced leaders like Albers is crucial for fostering resilience and innovation within the college community.
This change in leadership marks an important step for RCC, as it continues to adapt to the needs of its students and the broader community. The college aims to maintain its reputation for excellence in education, and the new trustee’s insights and expertise will be vital in achieving that mission.
