Fitchburg State University to Host Presidential Ambassadors Showcase

The Presidential Ambassadors Showcase at Fitchburg State University will take place on September 25, 2023, from 16:00 to 17:30 at the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. This annual event celebrates the impactful work of students within the Presidential Ambassadors Program, highlighting their commitment to leadership and community development.
Empowering Students Through Leadership
This year’s theme, “Academics change lives,” underscores the program’s mission to foster student leadership by enabling participants to design and implement community-oriented projects. According to President Donna Hodge, the showcase represents more than just student efforts; it reflects the core values of the university. “Our Presidential Ambassadors embody the momentum and mission of Fitchburg State,” Hodge stated. “They take lessons learned in the classroom and bring them to life through service, leadership, and innovation.”
President Hodge emphasized that the work of the ambassadors demonstrates that education extends beyond personal achievement, aiming to build stronger communities and uplift future generations. The showcase also serves as an acknowledgment of contributions made by the campus community, further illustrating the transformative power of education.
Showcasing Talent and Commitment
Dr. Christine Dee, a professor of History and special assistant to the President, supervises this year’s group of ambassadors. She praised the program as a representation of the university’s ethos, stating, “We love to learn, to build, and to move forward. The ambassadors combine their academic interests with project management skills to enact positive, meaningful change.”
The current cohort of Presidential Ambassadors includes Veronica Barton, Kole Broderick, Alexis DeSimone, Priscilla Fordjour, Geybrell Liriano, Sophia Moore, Sydney-Amelia Nortelus, Peter J. Norton, Alexis Sandmann, Reshawn Stewart, Aidan Thompson, Matthew Gill, and Julia Arena. Notably, Gill and Arena are returning ambassadors, bringing continuity to the program.
Dr. Dee expressed enthusiasm about the diverse talents of this year’s ambassadors, calling them a “powerful team” dedicated to serving the campus community. At the recent State of the University Address, President Hodge presented the ambassadors with distinctive green blazers, symbolizing their commitment and leadership.
The ambassadors engage in a variety of high-profile campus and community events, showcasing the university’s spirit through their interactions with alumni, legislators, and special guests. Hodge remarked, “These students represent the best of who we are and the best of where we’re going.”
The Presidential Ambassadors Showcase promises to be an inspiring event that highlights the intersection of education, leadership, and community service at Fitchburg State University. As students present their projects, they will not only reflect their personal achievements but also the potential for collective progress within their communities.
