Division Street Elementary Welcomes Students Back for New Year

On August 31, 2025, students across the Saratoga Springs City School District returned to classes, marking the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. At Division Street Elementary School, Principal Dana Bush expressed her excitement about reuniting students with their friends and teachers after the summer break. The school community displayed a palpable energy as the first day unfolded.
Principal Bush, now in her second year at Division Street after a decade leading another elementary school in the district, greeted students as they disembarked from buses. “We’re thrilled to be welcoming our students and staff back,” Bush said. “There’s a real sense of energy in the building, and we are definitely ready to start.” Her commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for both students and staff is evident as she reflects on the upcoming year.
Building a Supportive Community
As the school year begins, Bush underscores the importance of creating a community where every student feels valued. “We see the start of every school year as an opportunity for growth and learning, and for building those strong relationships,” she stated. “We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our students will accomplish.”
Among the dedicated staff is kindergarten teacher Tori Lynch, who has been with Division Street for 13 years. She shares Bush’s enthusiasm about welcoming a new group of students embarking on their educational journey. Lynch highlights the unique familial atmosphere at the school, which she believes is irreplaceable. “One thing we always say that we can’t recreate anywhere else is that sense of family and community,” Lynch noted. “We always support each other.”
Lynch also emphasizes the collaborative spirit among teachers, who often engage in discussions about their day-to-day experiences, both professionally and personally. “We really have that sense of camaraderie,” she remarked. “We’re excited to continue establishing our community vibe with the kids and fostering those relationships with their families.”
Excitement in the Air
Both Bush and Lynch are particularly motivated by the enthusiasm of the students as they start a new school year. Lynch finds joy in observing the excitement of returning students, especially as older students embrace the school culture cultivated by the administration and teachers.
“There’s nothing better than watching the children begin or continue their education journey with energy and enthusiasm,” Lynch shared. “A smile is the one free school supply that all kids can have, and it’s contagious.”
The Saratoga Springs City School District, which includes six elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school, employs over 1,100 faculty, staff, and administrators. With the school doors now open, both staff and students are eager to dive into a year filled with learning and growth.
