The County College of Morris has commenced construction on its new Center for Health Professions, an 80,000-square-foot facility aimed at addressing the critical shortage of healthcare workers in the United States. A dedication ceremony was held last week to celebrate this significant development, with the center expected to open in the winter of 2027.

This state-of-the-art facility will feature advanced learning environments and modern laboratories designed to mimic leading medical centers. College President Anthony J. Iacono emphasized the center’s role in shaping the future of healthcare in the region. “This center will prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals who will care for residents of Morris County and the surrounding region,” he stated.

The new center will expand educational offerings at the County College of Morris by introducing degree and certificate programs in high-demand fields such as dental hygiene, dental assisting, diagnostic medical sonography, and medical assisting. Additionally, existing programs in nursing, radiography, respiratory therapy, and paramedic science will also see significant enhancements.

Local healthcare leaders have expressed strong support for this initiative, underlining the urgent need for well-trained graduates in the healthcare sector. Trish O’Keefe, Senior Vice President of Atlantic Health System and President of Morristown Medical Center, remarked, “It’s a privilege to be the recipient of the amazing graduates from CCM. These students are prepared, engaged, and focused on patients and families bar none.”

By investing in this new health education center, the County College of Morris aims to play a pivotal role in addressing workforce challenges while providing students with the necessary skills to excel in various healthcare professions. This initiative represents a significant step toward ensuring that local communities have access to qualified healthcare professionals in the years to come.

As the center progresses toward its opening date, it is anticipated that the facility will not only benefit students but also enhance the overall quality of healthcare in Morris County and beyond.
