Join the Art Crit Class at Upstairs Artspace on August 27

An “art crit” class is scheduled for August 27 at the Upstairs Artspace in Tryon. The session will be led by Eldred Hudson, the curator of the current exhibition titled Makers & Mentors: Balancing Art Practice and Teaching. The event is set to begin at 14:00 and is free for anyone interested in attending.
Eldred Hudson, a retired art professor from UNC Charlotte, will facilitate a dynamic critique of the exhibition during this interactive class. The exhibition features works from twelve art educators who teach at various educational levels, ranging from kindergarten to university. This critique will provide participants with an opportunity to express their insights and opinions about the artworks displayed.
Engaging Art Education Experience
Critiques are essential in art education, allowing students to articulate their artistic vision while receiving valuable feedback. In this particular session, the exhibiting artists will not be present, encouraging attendees to share their thoughts candidly without hesitation. This aspect aims to create a relaxed atmosphere where open dialogue can flourish.
The Makers & Mentors exhibition will remain open to the public until September 5, providing ample time for visitors to experience the diverse range of artworks before participating in the critique. The Upstairs Artspace is located at 49 S. Trade in Tryon, and its regular operating hours are Wednesday through Sunday, from 12:00 to 17:00.
For inquiries regarding the class or the exhibition, interested individuals can contact the gallery at 828-859-2828. This event promises to be an enriching experience for both art enthusiasts and practitioners alike.
