UPDATE: The Macomb County Office of Senior Services is urgently seeking nonprofits and government organizations to participate in the upcoming Volunteer Recruitment Fair on September 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event, held at 21885 Dunham Road in Clinton Township, is part of a nationwide initiative to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11 by promoting ongoing volunteerism.

The fair offers a unique opportunity for organizations to connect with potential volunteers eager to make a difference. “This is a great opportunity for any organization that is seeking volunteers to promote volunteer opportunities that are available at their organization,” stated Sheila Cote, director of the Macomb County Office of Senior Services, in a recent news release. Last year’s inaugural event saw significant public turnout, encouraging officials to expand the initiative.

Organizations interested in participating can register online at macombgov.org/departments/senior-services/volunteer, call 586-783-0958, or email [email protected]. The event is not just for organizations; it also provides community members a chance to explore various volunteer opportunities that might align with their interests.

This year’s fair is particularly significant as it emphasizes year-round volunteerism, moving beyond one-time engagements. It aims to create lasting community connections and encourage individuals to engage in meaningful service.

With the Day of Service approaching, the urgency for volunteers has never been more critical. Community members are encouraged to participate, both as volunteers and as organizations seeking to fill vital roles across the county.

Mark your calendars for September 11 and be part of a movement that honors the past while building a stronger community for the future. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference—register today!
