nyra-star-program-returns-to-saratoga-with-exciting-summer-activities

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced the much-anticipated return of the NYRA Students of Thoroughbreds and Racing (NYRA STAR) program. Set to launch on July 11, this initiative will run every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until August 31 at the renowned Saratoga Race Course. The program aims to immerse children aged 12 and under, along with their families, in the vibrant world of thoroughbred racing.

Participants in the NYRA STAR program will enjoy exclusive on-track events, educational activities, and engaging communications designed to foster a love for horses and the excitement of racing. Membership is entirely free, and families can register online at NYRA.com/STAR or in person at the NYRA STAR booth located in the Family Zone.

Members of the NYRA STAR program will receive a personalized membership identification card and lanyard featuring their photo. In addition, they will have the opportunity to participate in a paddock tour and Winner’s Circle experience available on race days. These experiences take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the first four races, starting on July 11. Each member may bring up to two guests, one of whom must be a parent or legal guardian.

Exclusive Experiences for Young Racing Fans

The paddock tours will last approximately 30 minutes and depart from the Big Red Spring. Guided by knowledgeable staff, participants will witness the horses being saddled before the races and conclude their tour at the Winner’s Circle, where they can watch the assigned race unfold.

A new addition for the 2025 season will introduce personalized backstretch tram tours for STAR participants. These tours will be available every Friday through Sunday, beginning on July 11, excluding DraftKings Travers Day. The backstretch tour will depart at around 10:00 a.m. from Gate C. Please note that infants and strollers will not be permitted on these tours.

The NYRA STAR booth will be open on weekends from July 11 to August 31, operating from noon to 3 p.m., providing an opportunity for families to learn more about the program.
