Hutto and Coupland Schools Host Informational Sessions for 2026-27 Academic Year
Schools in Hutto and Coupland are preparing for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year by hosting informational meetings for parents and students. The Hutto Independent School District will conduct an Advanced Academics Night at 6 p.m. on January 8, 2026, at Hutto High School, located at 101 FM 685. This event aims to inform middle and high school students about advanced placement and dual-credit courses available within the district.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear a presentation from Superintendent Earl Parcell. The session will cover various educational options, including high school-based early college programs and the Texas Bioscience Institute. Participants will also meet advanced placement teachers and have the chance to ask questions regarding academic expectations.
Coupland Independent School District is also organizing an informational meeting on January 21, 2026, at the Coupland School gym, located at 620 S. Commerce St.. This session will focus on the transition from elementary school to the new junior high and high school, set to open in August 2026.
The establishment of the new school marks a significant change for Coupland, which has not had a secondary school since the 1940s. Previously, students completing eighth grade were transported to nearby Taylor or other locations for high school. A voter-approved bond in 2023 has facilitated the construction of this combined junior high and high school, which is anticipated to enhance educational opportunities within the community.
During the meeting on January 21, parents and students will learn about the academic and extracurricular programs available at the new Coupland Junior High and High School. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the expected growth and changes within the Coupland Independent School District over the coming years.
A preliminary informational meeting was held on December 10, 2025, to address initial concerns and inquiries. Registration is currently open for both new and returning students at Coupland ISD. The district is also accepting applications for transfer students.
