URGENT UPDATE: Two suspects have been arrested following the recovery of a stolen Amazon delivery van filled with Christmas presents. The incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. on December 22 in Kilton Hill, Nottinghamshire, when authorities received reports of the missing vehicle.

Nottinghamshire Police quickly mobilized a response team. Using the van’s onboard tracker, officers from West Bassettlaw initiated a pursuit along the A1 towards Newark. During the operation, automatic number plate recognition cameras identified a Peugeot van traveling in tandem with the Amazon vehicle, raising suspicions.

Upon arrival in Newark, officers located the abandoned Amazon van on Kings Road, where all the stolen parcels were recovered intact. The swift actions of the police ensured that these gifts would reach their intended recipients just in time for the holiday season.

Following the discovery, police apprehended a 21-year-old man on suspicion of vehicle theft and burglary. The investigation continued as officers tracked the Peugeot to Tolney Lane, where a second suspect, a 24-year-old man, was also arrested under similar charges.

Both suspects have been released on police bail as investigators gather more information. Sergeant Mark Talbot from the neighbourhood policing team commended the officers involved, stating, “The team did a fantastic job using various methods to recover the stolen van and detain the suspects. We’re also relieved to have tracked down the missing parcels just before Christmas.”

This incident underscores the serious nature of vehicle theft, which can significantly impact the livelihoods of those affected. Authorities remain committed to tackling such offenses, ensuring that communities feel secure during the festive season.

As investigations continue, updates will be provided. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
