UPDATE: The Baxter girls basketball team delivered a stunning performance, crushing BCLUW 59-18 on January 12, 2023, and dominating Collins-Maxwell 69-15 the following day. These back-to-back victories mark a historic low for their rivals and a record margin of victory for Baxter since the teams began competing in 2017.

In the clash against BCLUW, held in Baxter, Kamdyn Krampe exploded for 22 points, while Emileigh Beals showcased her skills with a double-double that included a career-high 11 steals. The Bolts led decisively from the start, ending the first quarter at 16-4 and outscoring the Comets 19-1 in the second quarter. Baxter’s defense was relentless, allowing BCLUW to score in single digits across all four quarters.

Baxter maintained its momentum, achieving a significant 4-4 record overall and 4-1 in the conference. Despite shooting only 27.4 percent from the field, the Bolts excelled defensively with an impressive 22 steals throughout the game.

The following day, Baxter faced its biggest rival, Collins-Maxwell, and once again proved their dominance. The Bolts surged ahead with a stunning first quarter score of 20-2 and never looked back, leading 42-2 by halftime. Beals shined, scoring 25 points and adding 7 steals to her tally, while Krampe secured a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. This victory marks Baxter’s largest margin against Collins-Maxwell since their rivalry began.

Baxter’s shooting improved to 37.5 percent, with 21 assists on 27 field goals. The team’s defense remained fierce, achieving 22 steals once more. With this win, the Bolts have now triumphed over Collins-Maxwell three times in a row, with a combined score of 190-59.

Earlier in the week, Baxter faced a tight challenge against Martensdale-St. Marys, narrowly losing 49-47 in overtime. Despite the setback, Olivia Parrie led her team with 17 points and 11 rebounds, indicating that Baxter remains a formidable competitor in the league.

The Bolts’ recent success has ignited excitement among fans as they look to build on this momentum. With the team currently positioned at 4-4 overall and in strong contention within the Iowa Star Conference, all eyes will be on Baxter as they continue their campaign.
