Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 Receive December 2025 Security Update
Samsung has begun rolling out the December 2025 Android security update for its Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphones. This latest update focuses exclusively on enhancing device security, without introducing any new features.
Key Fixes Addressed in the Update
The December update addresses a total of 57 vulnerabilities in the devices. Notably, six of these vulnerabilities are classified as ‘critical,’ while the remaining are deemed ‘high-risk.’ These vulnerabilities include significant issues such as out-of-bounds reads and writes within the fingerprint system, bootloader, and image codec libraries. Samsung has also added 11 of its own fixes in addition to Google’s contributions. Other important fixes include corrections for a problem in the Dynamic Lockscreen feature and a validation bug in Samsung’s radio interface layer.
As of now, the update is currently available in South Korea, where Samsung is headquartered. Historically, the company has expedited updates to other regions following the initial rollout, suggesting that users in other markets may receive the update shortly thereafter.
Update Availability and Future Enhancements
Users should be aware that the update will be rolled out in stages, which means not all users will receive it at the same time. The update’s file size is approximately 450MB, although this may vary by region.
To check for the update manually, users can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install on their devices. This may help expedite the process of receiving the update.
In addition to the security patch, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are set to receive One UI 8.5 in the future. This version of Samsung’s user interface is anticipated to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series in the first quarter of 2026. While users will need to wait a bit longer for this enhancement, it promises to bring new features and improvements once available.
The ongoing commitment to security updates highlights Samsung’s dedication to user safety and device integrity, ensuring that customers can confidently use their devices with the latest protections in place.
