UPDATE: A Tennessee man is in custody following a deadly DUI crash in Montgomery, Alabama, that left 54-year-old Frederick Bernard Hill dead. The incident, which happened at 8:07 PM on Wednesday at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Norman Bridge Road, has raised urgent concerns about impaired driving.

Cameron Wilhite, 28, from Memphis, has been charged with reckless murder. Eyewitness reports indicate the crash involved three vehicles, starting with Wilhite’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, which collided with a Ford Escape before striking Hill’s Ford Explorer. Tragically, Hill was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

Authorities confirmed that Wilhite registered a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .15, nearly double the legal limit, approximately an hour and a half after the incident. Open containers were discovered in his vehicle, further indicating his impaired state at the time of the crash.

Wilhite was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Thursday, where he remains without bond. This incident underscores the severe consequences of driving under the influence and the ongoing public safety risks associated with impaired driving.

As the community mourns the loss of Hill, officials are calling for stricter measures against DUI offenses to prevent similar tragedies. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to release more details in the coming days.
