CSU Rams Surge to Fourth Straight Win Over Dartmouth, 76-55
BREAKING: The Colorado State Rams have just clinched their fourth consecutive victory, overpowering Dartmouth with a decisive score of 76-55 at Moby Arena on November 28, 2023. This win improves CSU’s season record to 8-2, showcasing their resilience as they gear up for the final stretch before Mountain West Conference play.
Despite a sluggish start, the Rams rallied in the second half, effectively capitalizing on their defensive strengths to hold Dartmouth to the fewest points scored against them this season. CSU, known for being one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the nation, struggled from beyond the arc, making only 7 of 18 attempts. However, their overall shooting percentage of 61.1% ensured a comfortable victory.
First-year head coach Ali Farokhmanesh attributed the slow beginning to the emotional aftermath of their recent victory over Colorado. “After such an intense game, it’s human nature to have a bit of a letdown,” he stated. “But I’m pleased with how we regrouped and came out strong in the second half.”
Leading the charge for the Rams was Brandon Rechsteiner, who scored 14 points—all in the first half. Other key contributors included Kyle Jorgensen with 12 points, Jevin Muniz with 11 points, and both Josh Pascarelli and Jase Butler adding 10 points each. The team’s depth was evident, as all 12 active players contributed to the score.
The game remained competitive early on, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Rechsteiner shifted momentum, giving CSU a lead they would not relinquish. The Rams’ largest advantage in the first half was an eleven-point margin, and they entered halftime leading 33-24.
After Dartmouth narrowed the gap to just four points early in the second half, CSU responded with a commanding 14-3 run, ultimately expanding their lead to 74-50 late in the game. The Rams’ defense was pivotal, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting Dartmouth to 40% shooting.
“We didn’t defend as well as we could have, but winning allows us to learn and improve,” said CSU’s Jace Butler. “We’re focused on tightening our defense as we approach conference play.”
Looking ahead, the Rams will face Northern New Mexico on December 3 at 1 p.m. in their final nonconference matchup. Following that, they will kick off Mountain West action on December 20 against Utah State.
With their current momentum, CSU is poised to make a significant impact as they transition into a crucial part of their season. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as they continue to build on this winning streak.
