Mother Urges Public for Help in Search for Missing Son
Lori Beckwith is urgently seeking assistance in the search for her son, August Beckwith, who has been missing since November 17, 2023. The 29-year-old, who is autistic, was last seen in the vicinity of Research Park near the University of Utah. The prolonged absence has left his family in distress, as they work tirelessly to locate him.
August Beckwith was reported missing after he did not return home on the day he disappeared. His mother described the past two weeks as the most challenging of her life. “Every day feels like an eternity,” Lori shared. “We just want him back safe.”
Community Rallying for Support
The Beckwith family has mobilized their community in search efforts, distributing flyers and utilizing social media platforms to raise awareness about August’s disappearance. Local volunteers have joined the search, scouring the areas around the university and Research Park. “We are grateful for every bit of support we receive,” Lori added. “It gives us hope.”
Lori has emphasized the importance of reaching out to anyone who might have seen her son. August is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, and he was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket and grey pants. His mother believes that someone may have information that could lead to his safe return.
The family has also contacted local law enforcement, who are actively investigating the case. The Salt Lake City Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward. “We take missing person cases very seriously and are doing everything we can to assist the family,” a police representative stated.
Support from Mental Health Organizations
In light of August’s autism, mental health organizations have offered their support to the Beckwith family. Autism Utah has provided resources and guidance on navigating this difficult situation. They emphasize the importance of community involvement in searches for missing individuals, particularly those with special needs.
The organization highlighted that people with autism can sometimes exhibit unique behaviors, making it crucial to understand their routines and preferences. They encourage the public to keep an eye out for individuals who may appear disoriented or withdrawn.
Lori Beckwith remains hopeful that her son will be found. “We are keeping the faith and believe that someone out there knows something,” she stated. The family continues to hold out hope for a positive resolution.
As the search for August Beckwith continues, the community’s support remains steadfast. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Salt Lake City Police Department or the Beckwith family directly.
