Mexican National Arrested in Texas for Brutal Bathtub Murder
BREAKING: A wanted Mexican national, Hernan Perez Juarez, has been arrested in Texas for the brutal murder of a woman found in a bathtub in May 2020. The arrest, made by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Monday, follows years of evasion after he was deported in 2018.
The 41-year-old, also known as “Patricio Perez,” is charged with murder in connection to the horrific killing of a woman in Georgetown, Texas, who was discovered with a deep abdominal cut on May 8, 2020. Following the murder, authorities struggled to locate Perez Juarez, who had illegally re-entered the U.S. after his deportation.
Illinois State Sen. Chapin Rose expressed outrage at the situation, questioning how many more lives must be lost before action is taken. “How many more?” he demanded, highlighting the ongoing issues surrounding border security and illegal immigration.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Perez Juarez was deported for an immigration violation and had no legal status in the country at the time of the murder. U.S. Marshals confirmed that he re-entered the U.S. before the crime and was later found to have abandoned his vehicle near the Mexico border in Laredo.
In March 2022, the Georgetown Police Department acquired an arrest warrant for Perez Juarez, but efforts to locate him were stalled due to his disappearance. Recently, an Austin-based task force learned he had returned to the U.S. illegally, leading to his capture in Temple, Texas.
Authorities have since taken him to the Williamson County Jail, where he awaits further judicial proceedings. ICE has filed an immigration detainer on Perez Juarez as the case progresses through the legal system.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has yet to comment on the arrest, but the implications of this case resonate deeply within the community and raise serious questions about border security and public safety.
As this story develops, communities remain on alert, demanding more stringent measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. With the arrest of Perez Juarez, authorities hope to bring some closure to the victim’s family while addressing ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and its impact on public safety.
