BREAKING: Patricia “Pat” Lea Jones, aged 99, has passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Edgewater Assisted Living in West Des Moines, where she was under hospice care. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services held.

Born in Creston in December 1925, Pat lived a full life, enriching the communities of Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Spirit Lake, Marion, Urbandale, and ultimately West Des Moines. She was married to Paul R. (Bob) Jones, who preceded her in death.

Pat is survived by her brother, Ben Cochrane, and her two daughters, Kathryn (formerly Wehling) Troup and Susan Grant (David). She leaves behind a cherished family, including grandson Jeff Wehling (Lori), granddaughter Deborah Shoemaker (Gipson), and great-grandchildren Ethan and Emily Wehling, along with Gipson and Jake Shoemakerkindness and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. Her delightful sense of humor and spark could light up any room. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including cooking, baking, and tending her garden. Pat was a dedicated partner to her husband Bob, assisting him with various hobbies and projects, reflecting a life built on love and teamwork.

Her legacy is woven with compassion, laughter, and treasured recipes, ensuring that her memory will continue to resonate with her family and friends. As they reflect on their time with her, they celebrate a life that exemplified kindness, respect, and joy in everyday accomplishments.

Arrangements have been made by Des Moines Cremation. In memory of Patricia Lea Jones, those wishing to honor her can visit the Tree Store to plant a memorial tree.
