Ukrainian Brigade Uses Ground Robots to Spot Russian Advances
UPDATE: In a bold tactical maneuver, the 93rd Separate Rifle Brigade of Ukraine has successfully employed ground robots to detect Russian troop movements amid heavy fog, a development confirmed on July 15, 2023. The brigade reported using Uncrewed Ground Vehicles (UGVs) in the village of Rusin Yar, allowing them to maintain visibility and control over Russian advances, which had been obscured by dense fog. “Taking advantage of weather conditions, namely thick fog, the adversary made a turn toward Ukrainian positions, hoping that our drones would be ‘blind,’” the brigade communicated via social media.
However, the Russians underestimated the capabilities of UGVs, which were strategically positioned to monitor enemy movements. The brigade’s UGVs successfully detected Russian columns, enabling drone teams equipped with First-Person View (FPV) drones to strike effectively.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has acknowledged the escalating intensity of Russian attacks in Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian forces are reportedly outnumbered by as much as eight to one.
