UPDATE: A serious two-vehicle collision on Dartmouth Road in Barton County has left two individuals critically injured and requiring an air ambulance for transport. The incident occurred at 3:41 PM on November 13, 2023, with emergency responders quickly on the scene.

Initial reports confirm that two residents from Great Bend were ejected from a 2015 Ford van during the crash. They were first transported to Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic and soon thereafter airlifted by EagleMed to a nearby hospital due to their very critical injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a 2014 GMC Sierra driven by Cole Giese, 20, of Stacy, Minnesota, suffered only minor injuries and was cleared from the scene.

The collision involved Ryan Dayton, 48, also of Great Bend, who was behind the wheel of the van. Accompanying him was passenger Michael Siebert, 40, also from Great Bend. Notably, none of the individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately, reporting that both vehicles ended up in a ditch at the intersection of SE 20 Road and SE 60 Ave. This intersection is known for its traffic, and the crash has raised concerns about safety in the area.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. As more details emerge, the local community is left shaken by the severity of the injuries. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of seat belt usage while driving.

Watch for updates as the investigation unfolds and as the condition of the injured is reported. The local community is urged to stay safe and vigilant on the roads.
