Albany Gears Up for 35th Annual Celebration of Lights on Dec. 6
URGENT UPDATE: The city of Albany is set to light up the holiday season with its 35th Celebration of Lights on December 6, 2023. This beloved community event promises an evening filled with joy, music, and memorable experiences as families come together to celebrate under the dazzling lights of the community Christmas Tree.
This year’s theme, Home for the Holidays: Honoring Our Heroes, pays tribute to the community’s unsung heroes, including the late Commissioner Demetrius Young and Dr. John W. Culbreath, who is celebrated for his lifelong contributions to education and community leadership.
Mark your calendars! The event kicks off with the Christmas Village open from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, featuring local vendors and festive activities. Live entertainment starts at 4:45 PM, leading up to the highly anticipated tree-lighting ceremony at 5:45 PM. The vibrant Christmas Parade will follow at 6:00 PM, creating a magical atmosphere sure to delight children and adults alike.
The festivities will take place on North Jackson Street, stretching from Pine Avenue to Broad Avenue. Opening performances will occur on Pine Avenue between the Government Center and Judicial Building, while the parade will journey from Wesco at 724 Pine Avenue to the Dougherty County School System Building at 200 Pine Avenue.
For those looking to participate, vendor applications are due by November 30, and spaces are limited. Parade participants must also register by the same deadline.
