Tifton’s Chase the Turkey 5K Kicks Off This Weekend at 7:30 AM
UPDATE: Tifton is gearing up for the inaugural Chase the Turkey 5K, set to take place this November 15, 2025. The event kicks off at 7:30 AM from Tifton City Hall, bringing the community together in a festive celebration ahead of Thanksgiving.
Local footwear store, Tifton’s Best Running, is thrilled to host this exciting marathon, designed to showcase the charm of Tifton. Runners will navigate through historic streets and beloved neighborhoods, all while chasing participants dressed in turkey-themed attire, adding a fun twist to the race.
Don Boraowski, owner of Tifton’s Best Running and its sister store in Statesboro, has long envisioned this event. He has worked tirelessly for over two years to make it a reality, aiming to foster community spirit and celebrate the town’s vibrant culture. The race will proceed through key areas that define Tifton, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.
In a generous gesture, Boraowski announced that approximately 40 pairs of Brooks running shoes will be donated to the nonprofit Called to Care, alongside turkey trophies for the top runners. Awards will be given to the leading male and female finishers in both under-40 and over-40 categories, as well as the top three runners in each five-year age group, from ten and under to those over 60.
After the race, participants are encouraged to explore Tifton’s downtown, where the Fall Farmer’s Market will be in full swing. Shops along Main Street will welcome visitors, offering a chance to continue the festive spirit.
