Hit-and-Run Victim in El Cajon Urges Caution Among Drivers
A 70-year-old man from El Cajon is currently recovering in the hospital following a serious hit-and-run incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Julio Arreola was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near the intersection of Fletcher Parkway and Pioneer Way at approximately 15:30. He sustained multiple injuries, including fractured ribs and spine, as well as a head injury that required staples.
Reflecting on the incident, Arreola stated from his hospital bed, “I was lucky not to get killed or paralyzed.” His sister, Luz Arreola, provided further details about his condition, noting the severity of his injuries. As a result of the accident, Arreola is unable to work at his television repair shop, which adds additional stress as he focuses on his recovery and managing his financial obligations.
The suspect in this case, 19-year-old Brian Guevara, fled the scene immediately after the collision. However, law enforcement officials were able to apprehend him shortly thereafter with the assistance of license plate readers. Guevara has since been booked on charges related to the hit-and-run, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Just recently, a six-year-old boy was killed in a similar incident near City Heights, and another hit-and-run left a twelve-year-old boy hospitalized.
