Parents Alerted as Suspicious Man Seen Near School Grounds
Parents of students at Caythorpe Primary School have been alerted after a suspicious individual was reported near the school grounds. The man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was seen acting suspiciously around both the front and back of the school, specifically on Back Lane and High Street. This prompted immediate action from the school administration and local authorities.
In response to the sightings, the school contacted Lincolnshire Police. On Thursday, officers visited the school to provide guidance to staff and to encourage them to contact the police if anyone encounters the individual again. Police presence was noted in the vicinity during the school pick-up hours later that afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has been in communication with the school, offering advice on safeguarding measures. The spokesperson stated, “Our Neighbourhood teams are always available to anyone within our communities to discuss any concerns and offer any advice as appropriate.”
School Reassures Parents and Promotes Safety
Helen Hunt, head of the school, has been proactive in reassuring parents regarding their children’s safety. She emphasized that the police have expressed satisfaction with the school’s current safety protocols, allowing students to continue enjoying outdoor play during break times. Hunt urged the local community to refrain from speculating about the situation, stating, “The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remains our highest priority. We have shared the ‘stranger danger’ message with the children and are working with the police to ensure our measures are appropriate and proportionate.”
The incident took place on November 5, and authorities are encouraging anyone with further information to contact the police directly at 101, referencing incident number 121.
As the school community remains vigilant, both parents and staff are working in partnership with local law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for all students.
