Urgent Recall: Haagen-Dazs Mini Bars Contain Undeclared Wheat Allergen
URGENT UPDATE: A beloved Haagen-Dazs product is facing an immediate recall after a packaging error led to the omission of vital allergen information. Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream has voluntarily recalled the 6-count box of Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars, impacting consumers in over 30 states including major retailers such as Kroger and Giant Eagle.
The recall was confirmed in an official report from the FDA on November 4, 2023. The affected batch, with the code LLA519501 and a Best By date of January 31, 2027, may pose a serious risk to individuals with wheat allergies or sensitivities. Consumers are advised to check their products for the batch code, located beneath the “Best By” label.
This issue arises from a suspected repackaging error at the beginning of a production run, with no reported illnesses linked to the product thus far. However, the investigation is ongoing, raising concerns about consumer safety.
Affected mini bars were distributed to 29 states for Kroger and 5 states for Giant Eagle, with the UPC code 0 74570 30605 3 also identified for reference. Customers who have purchased these mini bars are urged to either dispose of the product or return it for a full refund at their place of purchase.
This recall comes on the heels of another significant incident in 2022, where Haagen-Dazs faced scrutiny for containing the toxic chemical 2-Chloroethanol. That incident led to recalls across multiple countries, emphasizing the importance of consumer awareness regarding food safety.
