BREAKING: Duane Roberts, the inventor of the first frozen burrito, has died at the age of 88. His passing was confirmed by TMZ on Saturday, with reports stating he died peacefully in his sleep.

Roberts was a pioneering entrepreneur whose innovations reshaped the American food industry. His wife, Kelly J. Roberts, remembered him as “a visionary entrepreneur, devoted husband, and a man whose heart and generosity forever shaped our family and community.”

Beginning his entrepreneurial journey at just 19, Roberts worked at Butcher Boy Food Products and recognized the potential of fast food in American culture. In 1956, he invented the frozen burrito, a product that would become a staple in households across the nation.

Under his leadership as president of Butcher Boy, Roberts expanded the company from a single plant employing 60 workers to six plants with a workforce of 1,400 people. His commitment to innovation and growth was reflected in his own words: “With all of my various businesses, there is no way to resolve every challenge each day; it’s like being on a treadmill. But that’s what keeps you full of life.”

Roberts leaves behind a legacy not only in the food industry but also within his family. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and his stepchildren, Doug Reinhardt and Casey Beau Brown, both of whom gained fame on the reality TV series The Hills. Kelly expressed her deep sorrow, stating, “Together, we built a beautiful life working side by side,” highlighting his incredible role as a husband, stepfather, and grandfather.

This news is particularly poignant as it marks the end of an era for the frozen food industry, which has significantly influenced American diets and dining habits. As the community mourns the loss of a beloved figure, Roberts’ contributions to both food innovation and family life will be remembered.

Stay tuned for further updates on the impact of Roberts’ legacy and tributes from the industry and friends.
