URGENT UPDATE: The Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum is inviting families to a FREE printmaking event this Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vesterheim Commons. This exciting hands-on activity is part of the museum’s Free Second Saturday series, and it’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Visitors of all ages can dive into the world of printmaking, creating their own styrofoam blocks and prints inspired by the exhibition, “Exploring the Natural World through Printmaking: Olive Jensen Nordby.” The event highlights the artistic legacy of Olive Jensen Nordby (1915-2014), who was renowned for her striking woodcut prints that reflect her Norwegian heritage and love for nature.

In addition to the engaging printmaking session, admission to the museum will be FREE from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day, making it an ideal outing for families looking to enjoy art and culture.

The printmaking event not only offers a creative outlet but also celebrates the memory of Jensen Nordby, who taught art at Luther College in Decorah and significantly contributed to the artistic community. Participants can connect with her work and the natural themes that inspired her during this special event.

Don’t miss out! Vesterheim’s Free Second Saturday events are made possible thanks to generous support from Bill and Kathi Wild and The Depot Outlet. Gather your family and friends for a day filled with creativity and inspiration!

Mark your calendars for this Saturday, November 8, and arrive early to take full advantage of the day’s offerings. Share this news with your circle and encourage others to join in this unique artistic experience!

For more information, visit the Vesterheim website or contact the museum directly.
