Kingsway’s DeNick Shines in 23-14 Playoff Win Over Eastern
 
													UPDATE: In a thrilling playoff battle, junior running back Cole DeNick propelled the third-seeded Kingsway to a 23-14 victory over sixth-seeded Eastern in the NJSIAA / Xfinity South Jersey Group 5 quarterfinals, held earlier today in Woolwich Township.
The game turned decisive in the late third quarter when DeNick scored the go-ahead touchdown, securing Kingsway’s place in the semifinals. Senior quarterback David Oravetz showcased his versatility, contributing two touchdowns—one through the air and another on the ground. This win elevates Kingsway’s record to 8-2 as they move forward in the playoffs.
Kingsway initially dominated, with Oravetz connecting with wide receiver Christian White for an 18-yard touchdown that gave them a commanding 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Eastern rallied fiercely, with wide receiver Vincent Rosa scoring two spectacular touchdowns—one from 38 yards and another from an impressive 82 yards—tying the game at 14-14 late in the second quarter.
As the clock wound down, Eastern’s offense regained possession with less than a minute remaining, but Kingsway’s defense held firm, concluding the game with a critical safety to seal their victory.
Looking ahead, Kingsway will face the winner of the matchup between seventh-seeded Williamstown and second-seeded Southern next Friday, with the time yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Eastern concludes their season with a record of 6-4.
