Larsa Pippen Opens Up on Coparenting with Ex-Husband Scottie
Larsa Pippen has candidly discussed the realities of coparenting with her ex-husband, former NBA star Scottie Pippen. During an episode of the podcast “I Do, Part 2,” aired on October 24, 2023, Larsa, 51, opened up about the dynamics of raising their four children together: Scotty Jr., 24, Preston, 23, Justin, 20, and Sophia, 16.
Reflecting on their shared parenting journey, Larsa remarked, “It’s funny because when I was going through my divorce and ‘til today… Scottie and I fight over the kids, like he shows them so much love, I show them so much love.” This sentiment highlights the challenges and joys of navigating a blended family structure after their separation.
Larsa recounted a specific incident involving their daughter, Sophia, who felt torn last Thanksgiving. Originally scheduled to spend the holiday with Larsa in Miami, she was invited by Scottie to visit his family in Arkansas. Larsa recalled, “She was so upset, and I’m like, it’s okay, go to Arkansas with your dad, like he loves you so much, he’s so proud of it.” This situation illustrates the emotional complexities children often face in shared custody arrangements.
Moving Forward After Divorce
The couple, who married in 1997, announced their divorce in 2016 after nearly two decades together. Their divorce was finalized on December 15, 2021. Attorney David J. Glass confirmed to *Us Weekly* on January 5, 2022, that “all issues were resolved amicably” and emphasized their focus on successful coparenting.
In her conversation with *Us Weekly*, Larsa reflected on the lengthy process of their divorce, describing it as “the longest divorce in history.” Despite the challenges, she expressed relief over their current relationship, saying, “I’m kind of glad that we are where we are today. The divorce is over, we’re still in a great place and our kids are older too.”
While Larsa feels content with their current dynamic, she admitted to some regrets regarding her children’s upbringing. She shared, “I wish my kids would have had, you know, a mom and dad in the same home. I felt guilty because I just, you know, I grew up with my mom and dad.” Despite these feelings, she emphasized that their relationship remains supportive and positive.
“We love each other. We’re always gonna support each other. We support our kids, you know, we’re just in a really good place,” Larsa concluded. Her openness about these personal experiences sheds light on the complexities of modern parenting and the importance of maintaining healthy relationships for the sake of the children involved.
