Versant Strengthens Communications Team Ahead of NBCUniversal Spinoff

Versant is enhancing its communications team in preparation for its upcoming spinoff from NBCUniversal. The company announced the appointments of Amanda Cary and Jamie Palatini as Vice Presidents of Communications. These experienced industry professionals will play pivotal roles in shaping the company’s public relations strategy as it transitions into a standalone entity.
Cary will be responsible for overseeing communications for Versant’s entertainment portfolio, which includes popular cable channels such as USA Network, E!, Syfy, and Oxygen, along with digital platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango. Her extensive background in entertainment publicity positions her well to lead these initiatives. Palatini will take charge of sports communications, focusing on the Golf Channel and its associated properties, as well as promoting other sports ventures under Versant, including the WNBA and League One Volleyball.
Both Cary and Palatini will report directly to Erin Calhoun, Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Sports Communications. Calhoun, who is also a former colleague of Cary at Paramount, brings a wealth of experience to her leadership role.
Cary joins Versant from Paramount, where she served as Senior Vice President of Entertainment Publicity. During her tenure, she spearheaded public relations efforts for Showtime and Paramount+. Her notable campaigns include hit series such as Yellowjackets, Billions, Twin Peaks: The Return, and Fellow Travelers. Before her time at Paramount, Cary worked with notable networks like USA and Bravo, further solidifying her reputation in the industry.
Palatini has spent over a decade with NBC Sports, where he has developed and executed strategic communications for various properties, including high-profile events like the Olympics. In his new role at Versant, he will lead the communications efforts for the Golf Channel and its related properties, ensuring that the company maintains a strong presence in the sports media landscape. His responsibilities will also encompass communications for other sports initiatives, reinforcing Versant’s commitment to diverse athletic coverage.
As Versant prepares for its future, the addition of Cary and Palatini is expected to strengthen its communication strategies across both entertainment and sports. With their combined experience and industry connections, the new team members are poised to help define Versant’s brand identity as it embarks on this new chapter.
