The FilmLight Colour Awards have unveiled the nominees for 2025, recognizing excellence in the field of color grading. This year’s selection features a range of notable films and television series, showcasing the artistry involved in manipulating color to enhance storytelling across various media formats.

Among the standout nominees in the Theatrical Feature category are Sinners, graded by Kostas Theodosiou at FotoKem, and The Brutalist, graded by colorist Mátyás Ternyik. Other significant entries include Mickey 17, graded by Damien Vandercruyssen at Harbor, and Nosferatu, graded by Adam Glasman at Goldcrest.

In the TV Series/Episodic category, acclaimed series such as Severance (season 2), graded by Tom Poole at Company 3, and Andor (season 2, episodes 4, 9, and 12), graded by Jean-Clement Soret at Company 3, are competing for top honors. The awards also recognize the commercial sector, with nominees including Bluff Bounce and KFC: Obsession.

The awards, now in their fifth year, received over 500 entries from 47 countries, reflecting the global reach and significance of the color grading profession. Bradford Young, a celebrated cinematographer known for his work on films such as When They See Us (2019) and Arrival (2016), leads the jury this year. Additionally, renowned South Korean director Park Chan-wook will serve as the guest of honor, further elevating the event’s prestige.

The nominees were announced during a live event at Cooke Optic’s London Gallery, showcasing the vibrant community of colorists and their contributions to the film and television industry. The awards aim to highlight the vital role that color grading plays in shaping the visual narrative of a project.

In the commercial category, notable entries include Office Magazine: Michael Shannon: A Reflection on Life, Art, Unity and the Divine, graded by Dylan Hageman at House Post, and Gucci: We Will Always Have London, graded by Tim Masick at Company 3.

The Music Video category also features impressive nominations, including Bad Bunny’s NUEVAYoL, graded by Dante Pasquinelli at Ethos Studio, and Maggie Rogers’ In the Living Room, graded by Jake White at Company 3.

The FilmLight Colour Awards not only celebrate established talent but also recognize emerging professionals. The Spotlight Award nominees include La Hija Cóndor, graded by Leo Fallas at Fermento Color, and NAWI: Dear Future Me, graded by freelance colorist Marina Starke, showcasing the next generation of colorists making their mark in the industry.

As the awards ceremony approaches, anticipation builds for a night dedicated to honoring the artistry and technical expertise that color grading brings to visual storytelling.
