UPDATE: The Loma Vista Farm Harvest Festival is in full swing today, attracting an estimated 600 to 700 attendees eager for fall festivities. Families flocked to the event in Vallejo, California, where children are enjoying a vibrant pumpkin patch, engaging activities, and educational experiences.

Just confirmed, the festival features a myriad of attractions, including plant sales and a live magician, capturing the attention of children and adults alike. “Pumpkins! Pumpkins!” exclaimed Riley Wirt, just 18 months old, as her mother, Chelsea Wirt, described her excitement. This annual celebration is a key moment for the farm to showcase its animals while promoting educational field trips for local schools.

Jennifer Shinar, the event chairperson, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’ve been doing this for about 15 years, and it’s obviously one of our biggest events of the year.” Shinar highlighted the joy of seeing children dressed in costumes, delighting in the activities, and learning where apple cider comes from through the cider press.

The festival also marks the unveiling of new facilities, including a chicken barn and a soon-to-be-completed pig pen and cow barn, reinforcing the farm’s commitment to community education. “Everything we do, all the upkeep comes based on donations and the community,” Shinar added, emphasizing the event’s purpose beyond fundraising.

Families, like that of Desiree Vicente and her children, Gizelle and Soren, are reconnecting with the farm’s legacy. Vicente, a former student from 1994 to 1999, enjoyed watching her children pick pumpkins and remarked, “It’s nice to see the place still thriving. It’s a lot bigger than I remember.”

As the festival continues throughout the afternoon, attendees are encouraged to explore the various activities and engage with the farm’s educational offerings. With the community rallying to support this cherished local event, the Loma Vista Farm Harvest Festival is not just a celebration of fall; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of community connection.

Stay tuned for more updates from the festival as it unfolds today, October 14, 2023. This event is a perfect opportunity to create lasting memories while enjoying the delights of autumn.
