On October 14, Publix Super Markets initiated a voluntary recall of one lot of its Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream due to the presence of an undeclared egg allergen. The affected half-gallon containers, marked as Vanilla Ice Cream, actually contain Publix Rich & Creamy French Vanilla Ice Cream, with incorrect lids contributing to the confusion. According to the FDA, the presence of undeclared food allergens has prompted numerous public health alerts and recalls this year. The recalled half-gallon container of Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream has a sell-by date of June 19, 2026, and the product’s UPC code is 41415 03043. The ice cream was distributed to Publix locations across several states, including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Notably, stores in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa, and Sarasota are excluded from the recall, as are locations in Virginia and North Carolina.

To date, Publix has reported no confirmed cases of illness related to this recalled product. Consumers are encouraged to check their freezers for the affected ice cream and return it to their local Publix store for a full refund, regardless of whether the product has been opened or consumed.

In a statement regarding the recall, Maria Brous, Director of Communications for Publix, emphasized the company’s commitment to food safety. She stated, “As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves. To date, there have been no reported cases of illness.”
