Supporters Rally for David Taylor at Detroit Hearing Amid Serious Charges

Dozens of supporters of David Taylor gathered at a Detroit courtroom on October 17, 2023, as he faced significant legal challenges relating to serious accusations against him. Taylor, who leads the Kingdom of God Global Church, formerly known as Joshua Media Ministries International, is under scrutiny for allegedly exploiting call center employees across multiple states, including Michigan, Florida, Texas, and Missouri.
Taylor, 53, describes himself as “Jesus’ best friend” and claims that he has been bestowed with divine authority. He is accused of compelling employees to endure harsh living conditions as part of their affiliation with the church. Alongside him, his associate, Michelle Brannon, is facing federal charges that include forced labor and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
During the hearing, the courtroom was filled to capacity with Taylor’s supporters, many of whom arrived early to show their solidarity. Local news coverage showed about 40 individuals outside the courthouse holding signs and engaging in an impromptu religious gathering. They sang songs and expressed their unwavering support for Taylor, with one supporter stating, “God bless you guys,” while others echoed sentiments of love and faith.
Inside the courtroom, the number of supporters created such a crowd that U.S. Marshals were required to manage the situation. Some supporters were asked to leave due to the limited space, while others attempted to glimpse the proceedings through the windows. By 3:40 p.m., the case had not yet been called, leaving many supporters waiting anxiously for updates.
Taylor was arrested previously in Durham, North Carolina, and made his initial court appearance on October 9, 2023. As legal proceedings unfold, the case has garnered attention not only for the serious nature of the allegations but also for the strong community support Taylor appears to have.
The situation remains fluid as the legal process continues, and the outcome of this case could have significant implications for both Taylor and the members of his church.
