The week of September 15-21, 2025, saw Tyler Perry’s drama Beauty in Black claim the top position on Nielsen’s streaming charts, amassing an impressive 1.35 billion minutes of viewing time. This marks a slight increase from the previous week’s total of 1.34 billion minutes, enabling the series to dethrone Wednesday as the overall leader in streaming viewership.

Following closely behind Beauty in Black is Black Rabbit, a new drama featuring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, which premiered on September 18 and garnered 1.23 billion minutes of viewing. This debut made it the standout new series of the week. Wednesday remained strong in third place, accumulating 1.02 billion minutes of viewing time.

Other Notable Performers

The series The Summer I Turned Pretty achieved a new milestone with 776 million minutes viewed, marking its fifth high during the ongoing season three. Another Prime Video series, Gen V, re-entered the original series top ten with its second season premiere, attracting 424 million minutes of watch time. Additionally, the Korean series Bon Appetit, Your Majesty made its mark with 421 million minutes on Netflix.

On the movie front, KPop Demon Hunters continued to lead the charts, achieving 828 million minutes of viewership. It was followed by three summer films making their streaming debuts: Ice Road: Vengeance (728 million minutes on Netflix), Elio (550 million on Disney+), and Superman (513 million on HBO Max).

It is important to note that Nielsen’s streaming ratings only account for viewing on television sets, excluding minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings reflect audience behavior solely in the United States, without consideration for international viewership.

The landscape of streaming continues to evolve, with viewers gravitating toward engaging content from established creators like Tyler Perry, as well as fresh narratives from newcomers. As the competition heats up, streaming platforms are likely to see more shifts in viewer preferences and rankings in the weeks to come.
