UPDATE: Alec Baldwin was involved in a car crash shortly after noon today, October 13, 2023, when his 2023 Range Rover collided head-on with a tree in the Hamptons. Baldwin, 67, was traveling with his brother, Stephen Baldwin, but both men emerged uninjured from the incident, which adds to Baldwin’s tumultuous year marked by scandal.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:01 p.m. on State Route 27, near Cross Highway, according to the East Hampton Town Police Department. Baldwin attempted to avoid a 2020 Mack commercial truck while driving, but lost control and veered into a tree on the eastbound shoulder. Dashcam footage obtained by Newsmax shows the dramatic moment Baldwin’s SUV careened into the tree after passing the garbage truck, which was registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore, NY.

Authorities report that no injuries were recorded, and no summons was issued. A police spokesperson confirmed that the accident was caused by Baldwin’s reaction to the truck and the slippery road conditions.

Baldwin took to Instagram following the crash to reassure fans that he was “fine,” explaining that the garbage truck “the size of a whale” cut him off. “To avoid hitting him, I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife’s car,” Baldwin stated, expressing regret for damaging his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s vehicle. Stephen Baldwin’s representative confirmed both brothers are safe and expressed gratitude that no one was injured.

Hilaria Baldwin also addressed the incident on social media, stating, “No one was hurt and that’s the most important thing,” while thanking fans for their concern. She emphasized, “Alec is okay. Be safe to all of you.”

This latest incident arrives in the wake of Baldwin’s recent legal troubles, including a high-profile manslaughter trial linked to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” in 2021. Earlier this year, a Santa Fe judge dismissed the involuntary manslaughter case against him after ruling that the prosecution had concealed evidence.

The actor’s year has been marked by controversy, including a public altercation with a comedian outside his New York City home, where Baldwin threatened to inflict physical harm. This incident, along with today’s crash, continues to draw significant media attention and public speculation about Baldwin’s conduct.

As Baldwin navigates through a year filled with personal and professional turmoil, he has also been publicly supportive of Hilaria, who recently competed on season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars.” After her elimination, she reflected on the challenges faced during the competition and the misinformation surrounding her.

As this story develops, Baldwin’s future remains uncertain, and the public will be closely watching for updates on both his personal life and professional career.
