Decorah High School Hosts Urgent Veterans Day Breakfast Nov. 11

UPDATE: Decorah High School is set to honor veterans with a special breakfast and program on November 11, 2023. The event kicks off at 7:30 AM in the high school cafeteria, where coffee will be available for veterans and their families. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 AM, followed by a heartfelt program in the auditorium at 9:45 AM.

This Veterans Day celebration is crucial for recognizing the sacrifices of military personnel connected to Decorah. The program will feature the VFW Color Guard, which will post the colors, and performances by the DHS Wind Ensemble and DHS Concert Choir. Community members are encouraged to attend and show their gratitude for those who served.

In a vital part of this event, organizers are inviting the community to contribute to the “Wall of Veterans.” Family members can submit a photo of a loved one who has served or is currently serving in the military. Photos should be no larger than 5 x 7 inches and can be dropped off at the high school office or emailed to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2023. Each submission must include the veteran’s name, military branch, years served, and any conflicts they fought in.
