Ohio State Dominates Illinois, Improves to 6-0 with 34-16 Victory
Ohio State University solidified its position as the top team in college football with a decisive 34-16 victory over No. 17 Illinois on October 7, 2023. The Buckeyes improved to an impressive 6-0, showcasing their ability to adapt and thrive despite significant player turnover from last season’s national championship team.
The Buckeyes entered the game with questions surrounding their roster after losing 14 players to the NFL draft, tying a school record. Coach Ryan Day emphasized the growth of his team during the season, noting that players previously untested have stepped up significantly. “The guys who we didn’t know about going into the season, they’ve now proven that they belong,” Day stated. He highlighted the competitive spirit and maturity of his team, which has become evident in their performances thus far.
Ohio State’s defense, which has been a cornerstone of their success, displayed a mix of veteran talent and emerging stars.
