Arrest Made After Fatal Dog Attack on 86-Year-Old in Georgia
URGENT UPDATE: A 53-year-old woman has been arrested following a shocking incident in which an 86-year-old grandmother was killed by dogs in her own yard in Baxley, Georgia. Authorities confirmed that Misty Ann Branch faces charges of reckless conduct and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the brutal attack on Maria D. Nunez, who was found dead on July 26, 2023, around noon.
The incident unfolded as Nunez was reportedly mauled by two dogs outside her residence. Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton stated that she sustained “multiple injuries” during the attack. Nunez, originally from Mexico, was a beloved midwife and co-founder of the family business, Nunez Pine Straw. She leaves behind three daughters, three brothers, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
