Mildred “Mimi” Wilson, a prominent figure in the arts and a dedicated family member, passed away on August 22, 2025, just days before her 91st birthday, at her home in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Born as Mildred Jane Brown in Kearney, Nebraska, she grew up in Columbus, Ohio and later pursued degrees in Music Education and the Arts from the University of Missouri and University of Southern California (USC).

Mimi was the widow of Dr. William Wilson, who served as the Director of Diagnostic Radiology at the Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach. Together, they raised five children: Susan, Chris, Nancy, Bill, and AliceAnn, in Palos Verdes, California. Mimi was known for her deep passion for theater; she co-founded the New Place Theater Company and directed numerous productions at the Norris Theater.

Her contributions to the performing arts extended to the Palos Verdes Ballet, where she collaborated with notable figures such as Fay Gillette and Uta Graf-Apostol. These endeavors highlighted her commitment to fostering creativity within her community.

Following a relocation to Ridgewood, New Jersey, Mimi embarked on a successful second career in real estate. She remained actively involved in her church and community, which reflected her dedication to service. In addition to her professional achievements, she became an accomplished painter, finding joy in artistic expression.

Family was a cornerstone of Mimi’s life. She cherished moments spent with her loved ones, particularly at the shore, where many fond memories were created. Mimi is survived by her five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, in addition to her brother, Robert Brown. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Scollay.

Mimi Wilson leaves behind a rich legacy characterized by creativity, service, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her burial took place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Lorain, Ohio, on August 30, 2025. Her impact on the arts and her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
