URGENT UPDATE: A woman was rushed to the hospital after a shooting incident in Roxbury, Boston, just after 4 p.m. on September 27, 2023. Police confirm she sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a barrage of gunfire that struck the popular Vasquez Restaurant located at 258 Dudley Street.

Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene as at least 18 bullet holes were found in the restaurant’s windows and glass door. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in quick succession, sending patrons and nearby workers scrambling for safety. “I heard consecutive shots back-to-back. It messed me up because I was like, I don’t feel safe anymore,” said Ayden, who was working nearby.

Another witness, Shantanu Rathi, recounted ducking for cover while cutting hair in a nearby barbershop. “I was really scared at that point in time. This is not the first time it is happening,” he said.

Authorities confirm that no arrests have been made, and they are actively investigating the incident. Boston Police urge anyone with information to come forward.

Local leaders are condemning the violence. State Senator Liz Miranda, a resident of the area, visited the scene and expressed her outrage. “It’s about every member in our community saying it’s not OK. For you to shoot that many shots into a business that was operating in the middle of the day means that you’re a callous human being,” she stated.

The impact of this violence extends beyond the physical injuries. “There is a family tonight with a young woman who may or may not be home for dinner,” Miranda added, highlighting the emotional toll on the community.

As the investigation continues, the Roxbury neighborhood is left reeling from this violent act. Authorities are focused on ensuring safety in the area and preventing further incidents. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
