Three-Vehicle Crash on I-75 Claims Life of St. Petersburg Man
URGENT UPDATE: A tragic three-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound has resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man from St. Petersburg and serious injuries to another driver. The accident unfolded on the evening of September 30, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., just south of Fletcher Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident began when a 38-year-old woman from Lakeland was driving a Nissan Rogue in the outside lane at a dangerously slow speed. The St. Petersburg man, driving a Mitsubishi Mirage behind her, collided into the rear of her vehicle. This force pushed the Rogue onto the outside shoulder, where it struck a barrier wall.
The collision caused the Mitsubishi to rotate into the inside center lane, where it was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by a 43-year-old man from Loganville, Georgia. Both the Lakeland woman and the St. Petersburg man sustained severe injuries and were rushed to local hospitals. Tragically, the driver of the Mitsubishi later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was reported to be unharmed. The Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
