URGENT UPDATE: The community is invited to participate in the highly anticipated Sixth Annual Anza Trail Moonlight Walk this October 5, 2023, at 5 PM. Hosted by the REACH San Benito Parks Foundation, this engaging event promises an enchanting evening along the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.
Experience the beauty of nature as local astronomers join the walk, offering a unique nighttime stargazing opportunity. “This family-friendly event has become a beloved tradition, welcoming community members to experience the trail’s beauty under the glow of the moon and stars,” states a press release from REACH San Benito Parks Foundation.
The walk is moderately strenuous, covering up to five miles in total, with a challenging 2.5 miles uphill. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes, dress in layers for the cool evening, and bring their own water bottles. To enhance visibility while preserving night vision, attendees should also bring flashlights with a red filter.
Parking is limited at the event location, and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Attendants will be present at the entrance of Old Stage Road to assist visitors. Families are welcome, and dogs are permitted on leashes. Guests should plan to conclude their hike by 8 PM.
