Utah State University Raises $68.8 Million for Community and Education

Utah State University (USU) has achieved a remarkable fundraising milestone, collecting $68.8 million from July 2024 to June 2025. This effort, part of the university’s “Create Your Aggie Impact” campaign, is designed to enhance educational programs and support community development initiatives. The campaign has garnered significant attention, with over 29,500 donations made by individuals passionate about empowering students and improving educational resources.
Record-Breaking Contributions and Community Impact
A noteworthy aspect of this fundraising campaign is the record-breaking number of high-value contributions, which included 15 seven-figure gifts. According to USU Today, the donations came from 9,587 donors, highlighting a widespread commitment to the university’s mission. Among these contributions, more than $10.9 million was raised through gifts under $25,000.
Matt White, the vice president for advancement and president of the USU Foundation, expressed his appreciation for the support, stating, “Our donors are the foundation of our success. Their generosity directly strengthens programs, supports students, and allows USU to reach further than ever. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact.” This sentiment underscores the collective effort behind the fundraising success and its implications for the university community.
One of the campaign’s significant achievements is the establishment of a groundbreaking academic facility in Monument Valley, which will serve the Navajo Nation and neighboring areas. A substantial portion of the total funds, approximately $29 million, has been earmarked for the “Building a University of Distinction” initiative. This funding aims to expand access to higher education on tribal lands, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and support for underrepresented communities.
New Scholarships and Student Opportunities
Additional key areas of funding include $20.6 million allocated to the “Accelerate Access and Opportunities” program for students and $8.2 million for the “Develop Solutions to the World’s Challenges” initiative, which focuses on research. The impact of these contributions is evident in the establishment of 107 new endowed scholarships, with over $4.3 million distributed among 2,012 students.
Among the beneficiaries is USU alumnus Albert Shane, who chose to create a scholarship endowment. As the first in his family to attend college, Shane emphasizes the transformative power of education, stating, “My degree opened doors to a successful career in engineering and teaching, providing financial security and personal fulfillment.” His story reflects the broader narrative of how scholarships can change lives and create new opportunities.
Students like Geosciences major Michelle Norman have also benefited from these scholarship funds, gaining access to research projects that might not have been feasible without financial support. This highlights the ongoing commitment of USU to provide meaningful educational experiences while fostering a culture of giving within the community.
The success of the “Create Your Aggie Impact” campaign demonstrates Utah State University’s determination to enhance educational opportunities and support community development, setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at fostering growth and inclusion.
